It is our great pleasure to announce that The Rev'd Rebecca A. Barnes was instituted as our new Vicar by the Right Rev'd Andrew M. L. Dietsche, Bishop of New York on Saturday, March 1at 11:00 AM.

The Rev'd Rebecca A. Barnes celebrated her first Eucharist with the parish on September 29, 2013 and was formally instituted as Vicar on Saturday, March 1, 2014 by The Rt Rev'd Andrew M. L. Dietsche, Bishop of New York.
Mother Rebecca was ordained in 2012, and comes to us from Saint Ignatius of Antioch Church on the Upper West side, where she served seminarian and later as Curate and then Assistant Rector. Born and raised in Pennsylvania and has lived in New York since 1988. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music and German from Hartwick College and a Master of Music in Classical Vocal Performance from the Manhattan School of Music. In the summer of 2011, she was a delegate to the Canterbury Scholars' Progamme. In 2012 she earned her Master of Divinity cum laude from The General Theological Seminary, and will receive her S.T.M. (Master of Sacred Theology) from the General Theological Seminary in May 2014.
As a professional singer, Mother Rebecca's career was primarily in sacred and liturgical music. She also worked in higher education administration as Assistant Director of Admission at the Manhattan School and as a program officer for the Institute of International Education. Mother Rebecca's passion for ministry has most strongly been lived out in the areas of contemplative spirituality, specifically as a presenter of Centering Prayer, and in social justice ministry. She is also an Associate of the Order of the Holy Cross. Mother Rebecca is married to Elizabeth Grohowski, a professional singer.
The search committee and vestry had extensive conversations with Mother Rebecca during the search process, and were very impressed with her abilities and her compatibility with Holy Trinity Inwood. We are delighted to welcome her to to the HTC community.Thank you all for your patience during the search process and to everyone who worked so hard to make this happen We are all excited to start the next chapter of Holy Trinity Inwood.
