Holy Trinity Church

The real question is what isn’t new at Holy Trinity, Inwood?! Our first new blessing is all the new people who have worshipped with us these last few months. They have brought to our liturgy a wonderfully generous energy and, to our parish, beautiful gifts – both spiritual and tangible. Another blessing is our Sunday School which resumed on September 20th. We welcome, especially, Olivia and Madeline. I hear they had great fun with the other children and with our Sunday School teachers, Abigail and Karla. A further blessing is our outreach committee (called the Loaves and Fishes Committee as we must do much with little and then trust Spirit to make it all come round right.) As the Committee reconstituted itself after the summer break, it was discovered that most of the goals set for last winter, spring and summer had been accomplished! For instance, one of last year’s goals was to form a neighborhood association to address local quality of life issues. Lo and behold! Holy Trinity Church, Inwood is now one of the founding member of The West Dyckman Neighborhood Association. The Association is in the process of getting our police back from Mid-town “terrorism” duty so they can enforce the existing laws governing drunk driving and open alcohol on our sidewalks. And speaking of blessings, it seems we’re finally going to have the peak portion of our sanctuary roof repaired! This has been a long time coming. Once the repairs are accomplished, we can move inside our little church and begin interior renovations. We’d like to thank the people of the Diocese of New York and the Property Support Committee of the Diocese. Without their help and financial support, this repair would not be possible. Finally, we invite one and all to join us for our celebration of The Feast of All Saints’, Sunday, November 1st at 10:30 am. We will be baptizing a beautiful baby girl and a youngster who has been attending worship here for some time. In the Necrology, we will remember those who have gone before, saints known and unknown. Special music is planned for that day along with a huge display of flowers. And we eat well not only at the altar but in the festive buffet after church! Please come and join us for a wonderful, Spirit-filled day. |
